October 4, 2010

Hi All, Thanks to your commitment to making this issue visible another great billboard action took place on Sunday, this time at Home Depot, Superstore and Walmart in Transcona.

Just to give you an idea of some of the immediate impacts of these actions in terms of raising awareness: One women who is a teacher took a bunch of cards and literally, the t-shirt of one of our volunteer’s back, to use in discussing this issue with her students… Another women took four cards for her daughters. Just a couple of the stories that have been gathered during these actions. If you had an interaction with someone during the billboards that you’re like to tell us about please let us know.

Thank you all so much for being a part of this project!
It would not have happened without you.
This was the last planned billboard but we hope to be able to do more in the future.
We’ll keep you informed of future actions.

Meantime there is a vigil honouring missing and murdered women of Manitoba behind the legislature on Monday oct 4th from 7-8:30 pm.

Also, there is a public discussion at Aceart on Monday at 6 pm about all of the projects, including the human billboard, that are part of Showing up, Speaking Out.

ALL ARE WELCOME TO BOTH EVENTS.

All the best and thanks again!
